CNC Operators, Roanoke, VA
Purpose of the Role:
You will be part of a large team of skilled machinists working at pace to deliver precision-engineered metallic components. During peak build periods, you will be responsible for setting and operating multi-axis machines to produce complex parts with diligence, contributing to demanding production schedules. You will use your skills and experience on CNC machining centers to manufacture components, equipment, and other precision parts.
Role Dimensions
Reporting to the team leader(s), it is your responsibility to deliver high-quality components on time and in full, while working to best practices and embracing continuous improvement. The role requires a skilled, diligent, and agile individual who works well as part of a team and is target driven.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Manufacture precision machined components according to job packs and engineering drawings to meet scheduled deadlines.
- Set and operate multiple multi-axis CNC machines with a range of controllers.
- Confidently program parts online, fully or partially.
- Maintain program, tooling, and inspection records for all components produced.
- Provide detailed and concise feedback to senior programmers and engineering teams to improve workholding, programs, and machining methods.
- Support shift leads in managing workflow in the machining cell to maximize output without compromising quality.
- Inspect parts to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain thorough shift handover records with other shift-based employees in the machine shop.
- Ensure accurate and timely work order booking and data entry.
- Follow standard operating procedures and best practice guidelines.
- Maintain awareness of health and safety regulations and contribute positively to safety standards on the shop floor.
Job Requirements – Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Experienced in setting and operating multi-axis machining centers.
- Previous experience machining small-batch precision components, preferably in aerospace, defense, medical, or similarly demanding industries.
- Previous on-control programming experience.
- Familiarity with manufacturing systems and software.

Lathe and Mill Technician / Machinist
Location: Roanoke, VA
We are seeking a skilled lathe and mill technician to join our precision manufacturing team. As a machinist or machine operator, you will play a critical role in producing high-quality metal and plastic parts using CNC lathes and milling machines. This position offers opportunities for growth, including apprentice machinist opportunities and advancement into specialized roles such as CNC lathe programming and multi-axis machining.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC lathes and milling machines to produce precision parts.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure all parts meet required specifications.
- Perform routine inspections and quality control checks on finished components.
- Adjust machine controls and tool settings to achieve desired results.
- Complete lathe and mill setup tasks, including selecting and installing tools.
- Perform minor machine maintenance such as lubrication and part replacements.
- Handle and move materials safely to prevent damage and ensure a smooth production process.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience as a machinist, lathe operator, or mill operator in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Ability to read and understand technical blueprints and specifications
- Strong mathematical skills to perform precise measurements and calculations
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of machining processes and machine tools
- Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues during machining operations
Preferred Education and Training:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of a technical training program, machinist apprenticeship, or relevant vocational certification preferred
- Experience with CNC machine operation and manual machining techniques is a plus
